Sailing-ship

Photoshop, Painter, Wacom tablet.
I began the work after visiting Stockholm a year ago. This is not an exactly place and time, but just my feeling of how it could look few centuries ago. One of the most impressive museums in Stockholm is a VASA-museum, displaying the only almost fully intact 17th century ship that has ever been salvaged, the 64-gun warship Vasa that sank on her maiden voyage in 1628 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasa_Museum), which inspired me to draw a similar ship.

I wanted to create a beautifull image with the vast landscape.
When I began paintig, I decided that it would be nice to add a mountain shaped and settled be people. I was inspired by the greek monasteryes on the rocks (meteora). It took some time to finish all the details as the original image is large enough (more than 4K width).
Hope You liked it, comments are welcome.

city in the mountains concept

This image was painted as a concept art for the "P.H.A.S.E. of resurgence" game.
© Sibilant Interactive 2005-2006.
the goal was ti create a city on the rocks for walking-flying characters. An example og the charackter (sketch):
http://www.cgpolis.com/concept/sibilant/tenky_bird.htm
The location og the game is another planet, so I created several "suns", and wanted to paint soft light from different durections combining it with some stronger highlights and shdows from the larger star arounf the planet. The perspective is a little bit distorted for a "cartoonish style", as I didnt want the image to be too real or photorealistic.
Hope you liked it, comments are welcome.
